SAIL Investments

SAIL Investments (“SAIL“), founded in 2017 and headquartered in The Netherlands, is a sustainable investment manager in private credit markets, investing globally. SAIL’s investment universe is defined by large mid-market companies that have a prominent position within their respective food&agri commodity supply chains and trade globally. Typically, these export-oriented companies operate in a global space where tropical forest regions, natural capital assets and ecosystem services overlap at high-density levels. SAIL offers senior secured long-term strategic credit to these target companies. SAIL’s strategic transition approach is to incorporate, pre-investment, a robust sustainability framework and transition plan into its borrower’s growth plans (“Sustainable Value Creation Plan” or “SVCP”), which the borrowers commit and agree to as expressed by a heavy sustainability maintenance covenant, this in addition to a heavy financial maintenance documentation pack. By doing so, SAIL de-risks the asset in terms of deforestation free mode of production and physical risk, thus enhancing the company’s market optionality, ultimately driving economic value for the borrower. Since inception, SAIL has, through its global credit investments, protected 3.1 million hectares of natural tropical forest, generated climate benefits of 13.2 million tCO2e and benefitted 68,000 people, whilst protecting biodiversity through its unique Nature Framework. SAIL’s global private credit investment strategy is aligned with SFDR Art 9 and covers SDGs 2, 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 15 and 17. SAIL reports under UNPRI, UNGC, TNFD (early adopters) and TCFD.
